When playing chess, there are times when you make the wrong move and then ask the player you are playing to give you a chance to take back the wrong move you made. Like chess, there are moments in life when you make a mistake and you go, “I wish I can go back in time and fix that mistake.” There are times when you wish you can go back in time and fix that mistake, or there are times when you wish you had another chance to do something, or relive a certain moment that has passed.
Even with all of these thoughts, and wishes, you only have one life to live and you must live your life with care.
How do you wish to live your one and only life?
We wish to be CEOs, we wish to be rich, we wish to be healthy. For the people who are rich, healthy, and CEOs, do you think their lives are always happy? It’s not like that. Even if you have a high status, are rich, and healthy, you can still live a life of misery.
It is not with what you have, or how high your status is, it is how you live your life that determines if you are happy or not. This happiness is not obtained just by ourselves. This happiness is obtained through and by God. That’s why when we go through hardships and challenges, we have the strength to keep going because that strength comes from God.
People who have strength from God are happy, and with that happiness comes praise and worship we give back to the Lord. In Philippians 1:1-2 it states, “Paul and Timothy, servants of Christ Jesus, To all the saints in Christ Jesus at Philippi, together with the overseers and deacons: Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ” Philippians 4:4 states “Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice”
As we live through life, we must rejoice and be glad in Christ.
As we live through life and come across hardships, how can we be happy all the time? People who go through hardships, or when you’re going through hardships, don’t need anything; you just need Jesus Christ.
Living through Jesus Christ, with God’s strength, First in Philippians 4:1-2 “you should stand firm in the Lord to agree with each other in the Lord.” All of us should be like-minded in the Lord with Jesus’s words as our center.
Second, in Philippians 4:8 “Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable — if anything is excellent or praiseworthy — think about such things.”
Our lives must be distinct and separate from the lives of worldly, secular people.
Lastly, we must have hope, pray with faith, and go forth with action (trying, challenging). Philippians 4:6-7 “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” With faith we must pray and go forth, anything is possible.
In England, there is a Korean opera singer named Bae Jae-Chul. He is so talented and they say that people like him are born maybe every hundred years. One day, he had a sore throat and went to the hospital. Then the doctor told him to go to a really big hospital to get it checked. He did, and they found that he had thyroid cancer. With surgery, he isn’t able to sing anymore.
There is a Japanese man named Ojima Totarola, he is the one who told Bae Jae-Chul to get the operation to help restore his voice and because of Bae Jae-Chul, Ojima Totarola accepted Jesus Christ.
Bae Jae-Chul can’t sing as well as he was able to before, but he still praises God.
Even when Bae Jae-Chul lost one of the most important things in his life, he still praised the Lord and his relationship with God got better and even stronger. Even with the voice, he has now, even though it is not like the voice he had before, he still sings praises.
God does not give up on us, so we must also not give up on ourselves.
A life without God is full of sadness and grief.
A life with God is full of joy and happiness because we are able to lean on Him and depend on Him. We can hold onto God, obey Him, and in turn, we can be happy and have strength.
Matthew 5:13 – 16 “13 “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot. 14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
